International Fanbase

Either a lot of your all are using proxies, or I just developed a strong following in cities all over France, as well as in Nepal and Senegal. WHO ARE YOU GUYS?
Maybe the French love reading about the foibles of the British... although a post about French colonialism wouldn't be like, so loving either mon petit chou.

Hello, Hello, Goodbye, Hello

Saying goodbye a lot. Quite emotionally overwhelming, so as in all times of heightened emotions I turn to tea and Pride and Prejudice. I also recently watched Lost in Austen, a totally satisfying and silly TV miniseries for those of us who have had to buy second or third copies of our P and P dvds and books.

Also saying "hello" to my late twenties. I have one wrinkle, in the middle of my forehead, but it only appears when I wrinkled my eyebrows. This might be tmi, but along with this wrinle, I also have zits, which are the only possible cause for a woman I met last week asking if I am in high school. High school!

I am trying to figure out how to pass along non anonymous news about my new doing without creating a password protected blog, or having to keep two blogs, and I think the answer might be to just put all my doings here. Less fun New York Times links and more navel gazing of an extended culture shock variety. Who knows?!?!?

This is John Smith, Live From Tulsa

This might be a bit cryptic  but: many of you readers were recipients of my mass emails called  "This is  (censored) live from (censored)" (it wasn't censored in the emails but I'm like, protecting my privacy or something). For reasons many of you know, but if you don't, ask me (the answer will be - I am relocating. Where? That is what you should ask me),  I am going to resurrect the mass email, with, I guess, the juicy personal tidbits I work so hard to keep out of this blog. So: if you want to be on the mass email list send me an email to pitcairnislandblog@gmail.com (I can't believe noone had taken that gmail account!) and let me know so I can add you.

In summary: I am moving. I am resurrecting juicy and non-anonymous (semi-eponymous!) mass emails. If you want in on them email me.

SHOUT OUTS

I just took a gander of the list of service providers of people reading this. A lot of you all have been reading at work. Also, a lot of you work at really cool places - so I have some shoutouts.

To the person who works at a place starting with J in Pasadena, next time I come down South I'd really love to see a you know what (you know, Boom, whoooooosh roooooar) and a you know what (you know, click, oooh, mechanical arm, grab oooh). To the people at a certain dotcom just south of here... will you bring me some free naked juice? I like red ones. To the person working in the office of California's most famous Austrian... what's that like? Does he still get grabby in the elevator? To the people at the other dot com with some privacy issues - please don't read my messages on your social networking site.

Hope I'm not violating anyone's privacy too much.

Excuses

So I have posted less than usual because my brain is in the midst of an 8 week regime of being worked in ways it isn't used to. This means my brain (not my heart though) has no desire to, like*, post snarky links to NYT articles. I will finish this unusual foray into unconquered territory soon, and hopefully I'll be back with as much oomph as ever. Until then, like, look at xkcd comics or google cute kittens or something. Know though, that I miss you as much as you miss me!

*Self aware use of the word like. I am Californian, this is how I talk. On occasion, I blog as I speak, ergo this is how I blog. Apologies.

Blogger Blogginess

Remember when I threatened to start another blog, about a topic close to my heart which I don't mention here? Well, I did, and I'm not going to link to it because it isn't going to be anonymous, so if you know me you should like check my facebook page or something, and you may have gotten a form/ non scientific survey thing which I strongly urge you to fill out, and if you don't know me then you should ask me for the link at the email address I'm going to create soon.

Pondering

So I'm pondering the ethics/ advisability of telling a story about a friend on my blog, a friend who does has never read it and as far as I know never will. The story does not reflect badly on this friend, although it is about political opinions, which I guess people like to keep private. I do not think anyone would be able to recognize who this person is, but it is possible... I guess only if my friend is totally unrecognizable in the story it is ok? Still pondering.

Snappy Title Here

Three things.
1. I have realized that the number of people who read my blog every day depends very heavily on how snappy the title of my post is. I have a hard time knowing in advance what a 'snappy' post title is, and kind of don't think about getting people to read what I'm writing as I'm doing it, but do enjoy lots of traffic. So there you go.

2. I just found money in a paypal account I didn't even remember I have. I was very confused, and after some sleuthing realized it is because I had set it up in 2007 to pay rent, put money into it (or something), then decided to pay by check.

3. There is a certain topic near and dear to my heart that I have never written about on this blog. Mostly this is because if I started writing about this a lot 94% of you would get real bored and never come back, but also because I am not sure I know enough to blog regularly about it. If you know me in real life (which let's get real, most of you do) you can probably guess what this topic is - here's a hint - what were a lot of my mass emails about last year? Anyways, I am contemplating starting a separate, not anonymous (semi anonymous?) blog about this topic, and trying hard to get a really wide variety of guest posts, if you know what I mean.
