Once burned, twice: Oprah's Book Club

NO WAY. Oprah picked Jonathan Franzen's latest book, Freedom, to be in her book club. Remember the kerfuffle over Corrections? Instead of linking to a story, I'll just recap: Oprah picked The Corrections to be in her book club, basically ensuring that it would sell. He was bitchy and smarmy about Oprah's club, saying that the male readers he wanted would be put off by Oprah's selection. She de-selected him! He was pretty snobby about her after that... and now she picks him again!!! DRAMA

BTW: Much respect to Oprah. She is a kick ass media mogul.

Nuts NUTS!

I am partial to Mad Men, but those Mad Men style ads during the show (at least when recorded) drive me nuts.  Nuts! Anyone know what I'm talking about, or am I nuts?

OMG TV OMG

I saw ads for NBC's new show Parenthood during the Olympics, and had no plan to watch it except that it is set in the incomparable berg of Berkeley, CA. Plus, it isn't as bad as it sounds.

PS I include the New York Times as a label for every post in which I link to them, which is most of them, making the label not that helpful. I should just call this blog "Things I Think About New York Times Articles."
