A Happiness Map!

This map totally justifies my obsession with Turkmenistan. It shows the percentage of people in each country who are thriving, according how people think they are doing. Turkmenistan, at 52% has higher thriving rates than countries you may have mistakenly thought of as more pleasant places to live, such as France or Italy. I could throw out some ideas about culturally mediated ideas of happiness and comfort, or even how memory of worse times can increase self reported happiness levels, but I think this data needs investigation and I want to be the one to do it.
